About On Bedwetting

OnBedwetting.com was constructed by W.J. Rayment. What prompted me to create this website was the recent experience of my son conquering bedwetting. We personally used many of the techniques outlined on this website. But I also have my own story about bedwetting. It occurred when I was a boy. I can peg it at the age of six because my father was in the Air Force, and I know where he was stationed at the time this event occurred.

I had stopped wetting-the-bed for sometime when suddenly I did it again. My mother fretted and fretted over what to do about it. At the time corporal punishment was much in vogue. Nevertheless, my mother applied it to me only once within my memory. It happened to be on this occasion. I can still remember her hesitation. In this case, I believe it did hurt her more than it hurt me. The next night I wet-the-bed again. Fearful of more of the same, I made the bed myself that morning. I was so ashamed I could not face my mother with the truth.

As an adult my mother told me that when she saw the poor job the six-year-old had done making the bed she knew what had happened. She felt so bad about spanking me for "peeing-to-bed" the day before, that she stripped the blankets and changed the sheets, but never told me how she had cleaned up behind me. She did not want to have to confront her poor son again. She tells me that she still feels bad about having spanked me. I, of course, do not hold it against her. Rather I feel bad for her that as a young mother she had so little information at hand to help her cope with the situation. As a society, we now know so much more. This site is an effort to compile, and sort through, and clarify what we know, putting it in usable form for parents who need to know more about enuresis.

Interestingly, and thankfully, that was the last time I wet to bed. For me enuresis never became the emotional problem that it might have. It never became a problem between myself and my mother.

This site is part of the InDepthInfo Network, a collection of websites, articles, and folios geared to help people cope in their daily lives. W.J. Rayment has authored several books including his Real Man's Cookbook. He has also created websites on health related issues including Treadmill Life.
